What has Changed? Effective January 2nd, newly issued Alien Resident Certificates (ARC/APRC) will use the same numbering system as Taiwan citizens.
What is the Advantage? Currently, having two systems creates barriers for foreign residents in daily life. Having ARC/APRC numeric system the same as Taiwan will make it easier to bank, shop online, transportation, and much more.
Next Steps? There is no action required. ARC/APRC holders have ten years to complete the changeover. When change of address or other alteration are required, their identification will be changed at the same time.
